DescriptionColored print of the feast of Herod. To the left, Herod sits on his throne in blue robes with a long white beard and a crown atop his head. Before him is a covered table with assorted dishes on top. To Herod's left sits Herodias in a pink dress also with a crown atop her head, gesturing with her left hand and pointing with her right to the other side of the room. Standing behind Herodias, is a man in a purple tunic and pink stockings playing the lute. On the right side of the room, Salome, the daughter of Herodias, is dressed in a long pink dress and two gold necklaces, with her blonde hair going down past her waist. She appears to be dancing before Herod using the blue fabric she holds in her hands. In the central rectangular doorway, between two yellow columns, comes a man wearing a blue tunic and yellow stockings, carrying a platter with the head of John the Baptist on it.Exhibition History"French Prints from the Tobin Sparling Collection," The Hyde Collection, Hoopes Gallery, Feb. 14-July 26, 2026.ProvenanceC.J.
