DescriptionDistorted interior view of a room with a crowd of figures. The low ceiling and leaning walls push the figures into the viewer's space. On the left a low stage with a standing figure and two seated men holding instruments, The figure at right with a violin resting upright on his right knee and the bow in his left hand. The other musician holds a stringed instrument, possibly a guitar. Standing in front of the musicians with his or her back to the viewer is a figure wearing a robe or possibly a dress and having a heavily bearded face (illusion of the bearded lady of the circus?). The figure wears shoes with low heels.
The right 2/3rds of the image contains six figures, four seated at a table, two embracing or dancing behind this group. The seated female figure at the far right wears a short costume with decorative boots and deep neckline and zigzag hem. A cat sits on her lap, a brightly lit candle glows on table directly in front of her. Leaning on the wall behind her may be a tambourine or small drum. A horned bovine looks in the window behind this figure.
