DescriptionBlack line print of a grandmother and grandchild. At the center of the print, the grandmother stands looking down at the seated child. She wears a long sleeve dress and has her hair pinned into a bun at the back of her head. She holds a towel in her proper left hand and the child's wrist in her proper right hand. The child sits naked in the lower left corner atop another towel, potentially on the edge of the bath. The child's proper right arm is extended down gripping the fabric they sit on, and their right foot is flexed up in front of them. They look out into the distance while their grandmother dries them after a bath. The background of the print is made up of scratch marks and dots of ink.Exhibition History"French Prints from the Tobin Sparling Collection," The Hyde Collection, Hoopes Gallery, Feb. 14-July 26, 2026.Provenance(Auction Gallery of the Palm Beaches Sale, West Palm Beach, Florida, December 1, 2014, no. 181); purchased by Tobin Sparling, Little Rock, Arkansas, December 1, 2014; given to The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls, New York, 2025.
