DescriptionGreen, blue, and red print of a fight scene. In the foreground, a nude male with blue tinted skin kneels on the ground, with his right leg extended, his left leg tucked into his body, and his head turned to face the viewer. He is being held down by his neck and a knee in his back by the male figure wearing a patterned breastplate with sheer fabric, green tinted skin, wielding a knife in his left hand and a shield strapped to his right arm. Both figures appear to have blood on their hands, knees and feet, and there is a pool of blood on the ground next to the bloodied knife of the pinned male. In the background, another nude male on a rearing horse is aiming a spear at a group of three soldiers with plumed helmets and green shields with a snake emblem. Looking down on this scene, an angel flies above with large red wings, a see-through dress, and a blue and red polka dot cap.Exhibition History"French Prints from the Tobin Sparling Collection," The Hyde Collection, Hoopes Gallery, Feb. 14-July 26, 2026.ProvenanceRachel Davis Fine Arts, Cleveland, Ohio; purchased by Tobin Sparling, Little Rock, Arkansas, August 6, 2016; given to The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls, New York, 2025.
