"The Callanish III stone circle (Cnoc Filibhir Bheag[1]) is one of many megalithic structures around the better-known (and larger) Calanais I on the west coast of the isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides (Western Isles), Scotland. This is a complex setting of 17 stones."

DescriptionThe artist has mistitled this as "Callernish Stones" on the verso of the painting. The actual archaeological site in Scotland is known as the Callanish Stones. A cubist/faceted abstract of a neolithic stone circle in a low-hilled landscape. The foreground in light brownish gold, mid-ground green and the background hills in grey-black. A low moon just over the hills. Reverse of the panel is a bright yellow.
