SignedLower right, in ink, cursive: "Sterne" with "1909" below and offset with the 19 below the last two letters of the name.
InscribedInscription in pencil, cursive writing, above a printed label was cut from the old backboard and taped to present corrugated backing. This was removed to an archival sleeve and placed in the file on 8/13/2009 by B. Rathburn. "Artist Maurice Sterne/Price 270," below this"Return/ To" the words stacked one above the other with "Reinhardt/Galleries" written one word above the other to the right. A partial word in the upper right is not legible.
On original acidic backing: "No 13/Nude/$300". This section of backing saved and placed in collections file.
MarkingsLabel with inscription above it was cut from an old backboard and taped to corrugated backing. This was removed to an archival sleeve and placed in file on 8/13/2009 by B. Rathburn. The printed label has a plain black border. At the top of the label the number "#3681-13" is typed, below this is printed "Artist" followed by a line with "MAURICE STERNE 1878" typed in. "Title" is printed before the next blank line with "'SEATED NUDE HOLDING LEFT /FOO'T" typed on it, but with 'foot' carried down onto the following line which says "Size" at the beginning. The last line has "Price" typed at the beginning with "$270." typed in and later crossed out with pencil.
