DescriptionImari-ware bowl. The design centers around a circle with 3 people standing around a structure almost resembling a temple. Underneath is an undulating scalloped repeating design, all in blue, with some details highlighted red lines and dots. Outside of the circle are similar structures to the first one, with people scattered around, seemingly doing everyday tasks. The buildings are complimented by a variety of trees, foliage and mountains in the far background. The outside of the bowl has the same landscape design. By the base of the foot is a repeating petal design.ProvenancePurchased by Col. and Mrs. Frank Cole Baker; inherited by Mrs. Frances Baker Lyttle, Greenwich, New York; given to The Hyde Collection, June 17, 1985.- Decorative Arts
