DescriptionImari-ware bowl. The design is broken up into sections. The largest section is repeated 3 times with 3 smaller designs in between each. The large design depicts a tree with green stems and pink, orange, and blue flowers. In between these 3 tree designs are 3 rectangles with different designs in each. The first is red with a skeletal design on it. The second is a solid orange block and the third has alternating undulating yellow and green lines with leaves within them. The center of the bowl is divided by a dark blue circle. On the circle are 4 bows in orange. Inside the circle are 4 flowers with swirling lines protruding from either side. Another smaller circle is created by blue flowers. Within that smaller circle is a red paper crane. The design on the outside of the bowl is comprised of a blue band of swirling and undulating line, broken up by 4 red circles with a flower in the middle, alternating with a blue shell. There are two feet on this bowl.ProvenancePurchased by Col. and Mrs. Frank Cole Baker; inherited by Mrs. Frances Baker Lyttle, Greenwich, New York; given to The Hyde Collection, June 17, 1985.
