DescriptionBlack and gray print of a nude woman. The woman is kneeling on her proper left leg with her proper right leg up and bent so that her right foot is resting on the ground. Her body is angled to the right in a 3/4 view. Her proper left arm is extended down and bent so that her left hand touches the top of her left thigh. Her proper right arm is extended to the side and bent so that the elbow rests on top of her bent right knee. The woman's stomach noticeably curves outward in a smooth line although it is unknown if she is meant to be depicted as pregnant. Her head is tilted down to the right, and her eyes follow that angle to look down at the ground past her proper right foot. Her hair is made up of individual curved lines, with one strand draping over her proper left shoulder, and more falling over her right shoulder reaching down past her breasts. The background behind the woman is made of simple curved lines with a sky of thin horizontal lines. From Sept Planches Graves Sur Cuivre par Andre Derain.Exhibition History"French Prints from the Tobin Sparling Collection," The Hyde Collection, Hoopes Gallery, Feb. 14-July 26, 2026.Provenance(Rachel Davis Fine Arts Sale, Cleveland, Ohio, December 4, 2021, no. 7); purchased by Tobin Sparling, Little Rock, Arkansas, December 4, 2021; given to The Hyde Collection, Glens Falls, New York, 2025.
