DescriptionBlack print of a woman looking at herself in the mirror. To the right in this abstracted environment, a face made up of a single-line mouth, a nose, eyebrows, and two vacant almond-shaped eyes, floats in a circle partially covered by a solid black oval half. Below this circle face is a black outlined rectangle that connects to a shape that may be the woman's torso, with five small circles almost like buttons in a line. Extending from this torso, are two cylindrical 'arms,' one reaching up to the woman's face, and the other extended in front holding the mirror with a 'hand' that is a rectangle with two black lines down the middle to make fingers. The mirror is the central oval that is split in half, with the right side being solid black and the left being left empty except for a line of black dashes. On the left-hand side of the print, it seems as though there is another hand approaching from the opposite side to hold the mirror, potentially alluding that the other side of the print reflects the woman holding her mirror.Commissioned by Gustave Kiepenheuer, Berlin 1920, and issued for the review, "Das Kunstblatt," 1920.
