MarkingsImpressed mark on lower left: block letters "CP" conjoined (to the left of the edition number) for Curwen Press or Curwen Prints. According to the Tate Gallery catalogue of their works by Hepworth, Stanley Jones of Curwen Studios started a 'pilot scheme' in a studio in St. Ives (Cornwall) in 1958 and in late 1968 spent 2 weeks working with Barbara Hepworth creating the suite of 12 lithographs to which this print belongs. Watermarked LR, "BH." According to the Tate's Hepworth's catalogue (see Bibilo), these prints were on handmade Barcham Green paper watermarked "BH."
DescriptionThree overlapping vertical forms, tall, narrow, bowl-like shapes each with a circle in the upper third. Orange ground with two pale blue rectangles in the upper left and right quadrants. At the bottom center a slightly larger rectangle is white with black and brown-grey brushstroke right-angled 'calligraphy,' Broad strokes of brown-black coloring in the upper left and lower fight of the composition.
