Signed"T.Moran" in pencil in the margin below the lower right corner of the image. Moran's monogram "T" with the vertical element having an arrow pointing down overlaid with "M" is printed in the margin below the lower left corner of the image and "MORAN 1888" (with an arrow extending down from the inner vee of the M) printed with large and small capitals using the etching needle in the lower left corner of the image.
"Copyright 1888 by C. Klackner, 5 E. 17th St. N.Y." printed in upper and lower case script in the margin just above the upper left corner of the image.

DescriptionLarge horizontal format image of the Venetian Lagoon with St. Mark's Basilica in the left midground linked to the campanile and Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale di Venezia) in the right mid and foreground and gondolas and boats in the lower right foreground as well as the center of the image. (for further details see Notes)In addition there is a remarque in the lower left of the plate, outside the main image area. A large two-panel gate is partially open with a figure seated on a curbing in front of it at the lower left.
