The right hand figure has pointy ears, bulging eyes and a jagged mouth, the left hand figure has an owl-like head with a small beak between the eyes. The title, Deux Personnages (Two Personages) may indicate two characters in a play or story or any person of distinction or otherwise. In Late Middle English the word personage was associated with a sculpture or image of a person. In his appraisal of 2007 Timothy Tetlow translated the title as "Two Figures,"
