SignedIn the clay on the underside of the back, "fait par. JJ. Caffieri. 1756"
InscribedOn the underside, beneath the figure's left shoulder: "D.W./1629" in ink,varnished over. Probably an inventory number for the David-Weill collection, previous owners.
On the underside of the socle: A manufactured label, pre-glued, rectangular with cut corners, red border inscribed in ink, the first two lines in cursive "Caffieri /'La Fleuve' / (illegible--D-W?)1629" and "STE" in the lower right. Also. a tiny fragment of another, probably earlier, pre-printed label with black border. No writing.
