Signed"JOHN ROGERS/NEW YORK/1882" in intaglio printing san serif capital letters on the center top of the base
InscribedIn quote marks "HA, I LIKE NOT THAT!" intaglio printing in sans serif block capital letters on the front face of the base. Also, the names of the four characters are inscribed on the beveled upper front edge of the base (see Description).
Markings"67" in pencil on the face of the base at back. This number refers to a box number according to Lubus appraisal.
DescriptionParlor sculpture of four figures in theatrical Elizabethan dress, three males and one female, grouped around steps and a pedestal surmounted by a large urn. According to Wallace (see NOTES) the scene is taken from Shakespeare's 'Othello,' Act III, Scene 3.
