DescriptionBlack and white print of a man walking at night. The man stands right of center, facing to the left. He walks with his hands in his pant pockets and with his proper left foot in front of the right. He is wearing a bowler hat, jacket, and pants, with any other details of his outfit hard to discern due to the sketched nature of this work. The proper left side of the man's face is illuminated by an unknown light source, as well as the top of his proper left shoulder, the left side of his hat, and the wall/background behind his head. From this illuminated area, the details of a beard are apparent on the man's face as well as the dark areas of his eyes. The area on the ground to the left of the man's feet appears darker than the surrounding environment indicating a shadow cast by the man's body. The rest of the environment the man walks in is hard to make out other than the edge of a wall to the left of the man and the potential lighter facade of a building with windows in the upper left corner.ProvenanceAlfred Beurdeley.
