DescriptionCoastal scene with an artist seated on a rock in center foreground drawing with his left hand and waving something above his head (a hat?) with his right. A small boat near him is leaving the shore with three men rowing in the direction of a ship at anchor on the left. Only the bowsprit, bow and first mast of this vessel are visible. Another rowed boat with three men is just beyond it. In the right midground there is a curve of the treed coast with a smaller, lateen-rigged vessel near shore and a rowboat alongside. Left of the center the rayed sun is is blazing from behind clouds and silhouetting another rowboat with four occupants and another lateen rigged boat to its right.Exhibition History"Old Master Prints from the Sparling Family Collection", Hoopes Gallery, The Hyde Collection, February 28 - May 24, 2009.
