DescriptionGarden scene with the goddesses Flora and Pomona on the left approaching an old gardener. Flora is wearing a floral crown and was the goddess of Spring; Pomona is wearing a crown of grape clusters, she is the goddess of orchards, vineyards and fruit-bearing trees. The gardener is thought to be Vertumnus, the Roman god who was protector of gardens and orchards.ProvenanceCollection of Mr. and Mrs. Louis F.
