Inscribed"THE BALCONY" in intaglio block capitals cast on the front of the base
Markings"PATENTED NOV 4/1879" intaglio printed sans serif block capitals on the left side of the top of the base, behind the left foot of the standing boy "149" in pencil on a piece of masking tape on the back face of the base refers to a box number according to the Lubus appraisal.
