DescriptionColor print of boats on the water during the evening. In the background, the setting sun is causing the sky to turn vibrant colors - a gradient that goes from purple on the left-hand side to pink/orange, and then yellow on the right-hand side. This color shift in the sky is reflected by the body of water in the foreground, with blue and green dashes mixed in to show the rippling of the water. Floating in the center, a long and skinny boat with four purple/pink/yellow sails is reflected in the water by a dark blue shadow. Along the right-hand border, half of another boat with just one sail can be seen. Standing on this boat's surface, the figure of a person leaning forward is made from a dark blue shadow. Behind this sailboat, a purple cone shaped structure with a flat top stands in the middle of the water. Perched on top of this structure is a metal tower. By the left-side border, another small sailboat floats through the water. In this boat, three blue dots are depicted atop a mass of blue sitting in the boat, potentially people out for an evening boat ride. This mass in the back half of the boat appears to make the boat lean back, as the front rises above the water. In the distance, the outlines of two more boats can be seen sailing on the green waters, unaffected by the sunset's colors.Exhibition History"French Prints from the Tobin Sparling Collection," The Hyde Collection, Hoopes Gallery, Feb. 14-July 26, 2026.ProvenanceEstate of John Klebanoff.
