MarkingsOn the underside, a transfer-printed mark with a spread-winged eagle holding arrows and laurel in his talons, a shield with stars and stripes to the right with a banner above printed with the United States motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Below the eagle a rectangle printed with the legend describing the image on the plate "TABLE ROCK/NIAGARA".
Also on the underside, at center, a small impressed mark, possibly a "6" or 9.
DescriptionPlate transfer-printed in deep cobalt blue with scene identified on the reverse of the plate as Table Rock, Niagara Falls. The title of the source drawing by Svinin is "Niagara Falls--Table Rock by Midnight".In the well a view of the Horseshoe Falls with narrower falls and the flat topped "Table Rock" at the right. On the bank in the foreground two small figures look up while two smaller figures stand on Table Rock. The scene is encircled with a leafy vine. The transfer decoration on the plate flange has large seashells and a narrow bead-like printed border. The rim is slightly ogee-shaped with eight indentations.
