SignedLL in semi-opaque white gouache?: "Winslow Homer"(This signature is fairly crude and not terribly legible which may be why Homer added the second one). LR, brown/black ink: "Winslow Homer 1889", this is much more controlled and was probably added in the studio. It was not uncommon for Homer to take a watercolor started outdoors and do further work on it in the studio.
