MarkingsLabel: "Ferdinand Roten Galleries; Baltimore, Maryland" Lower left: "62/201;" Lower center: "work 74 - 69 - artist's name; Lower Center: 84-55-1" Ferdinand Roten Galleries had locations in Baltimore, MD, Cambridge, MA and California and possibly other cities as well in the 2nd half of the 20th century. They were in the business of publishing as well as selling prints. Their name appears prominently in legal precedent concerning the sale of art prints and multiples in California. In the case of "Grogan-Beall v. Ferdinand Roten Galleries, Inc. a woman who sued the gallery under the California Sale of Fine Prints Act was required to tender to the defendants the print at issue as a precondition to recovery. It is important that the print be in the same condition as it was at the time of sale." Source: http://www.tfaoi.com/articles/andres/aa4.htm
