DescriptionPair of embroidered orphrey panels. This embroidery is worked on a plain weave linen ground which has several layers. The four saints are raised by embroidering over linen appliques. The embroidery is worked in silk and wrapped metallic threads. The motif consists of a gold border which creates four rectangular windows. In each is a saint set in an architectural setting. The orphrey is adhered in only a few areas.Exhibition History"Objects of Devotion", Hoopes Galllery, The Hyde Collection, Nov. 30, 2003- Feb. 29, 2004.ProvenanceCollection of Mr. and Mrs. Louis F.
